Edion Hisaya Plaza
A long park that goes through the center of Nagoya. Frequent events (e.g., Belgian beer festival in April, German christmas market, Thai food festival, and more).
Meijo Park
The biggest park in the city, right next to Nagoya Castle. Good for cherry blossom viewing and some festivals.
Ghibli Park
A large Studio Ghibli exhibit and museum frequently with food stalls outside. A wonderful place for all Ghibli fans.
Nagoya Castle
An impressive castle in the middle of the city.
Entertainment
Joy Joy Osu
Karaoke with all you can drink option, quite cheap. More locations throughout Nagoya.
Jankara Kanayama
More fancy Karaoke with higher quality drinks and food. More locations throughout Nagoya.
Round 1 Chikusa store
Amusement center with Bowling, Billiard, Darts, Mario Kart and other games. Several other locations throughout the city.
Taito Station Osu
Midland Square Cinema
Movie theater showing international movies. Careful, there is also a Midland Square 2. Be there early if you have a reservation to figure out the ticket printing machines.
Sports
Padel Nagoya
Padel club, with two courts to rent, rental rackets available. You need to pre-book a court! The owner is very nice and will assist you and do his best to explain the rules (mostly in Japanese).
Pinnacle 2 Sakae
Rental shoes, chalk to buy (they might even lend you some if you ask) and changing rooms available. When going the first time, you'll be asked to register and will get a member card, so checking in from then on will be very fast. You can pay per hour, get a monthly pass, or get a light pass so you can go for 1-hour at a time as much as you want. For the first 3 months after signing up they have a loyalty program with a stamp card for free entries.

Whether or not they speak English depends on the doctor you get, you can try calling to ask for an English consultation. Only Yuki-san speaks English (as of Spring 2023).

They have some english speaking staff. For Japanese reservations, use the website. For English reservations, call their number and request an english speaking memeber of staff.
Car rental
Buget Car Rental
You can cheaply rent a number of car types. You will need to make an online reservation and must bring your passport, even if you have a residence card, they usually want it anyway.
You need a valid international driver's license, or a Japanese license translation for some countries for which international licenses are not acknowledged (e.g., Germany).
Picking up the car can take between 20 to 45 minutes, depending on whether you have rented in Japan before, how good your Japanese is, etc.
Make sure you select and drive to the right location, as budget has multiple shops throughout Nagoya.

A small clinic in Sakae near Hisayadori park angel bridge, and within walking distance from Chiyoda Dormitory. The Doctor speaks English.
